7 Christmas Gift Packs from Canadian Artisans
Every year, we look for the perfect Christmas gifts for friends and loved ones. This year, the task is easier than ever, because a record number of our little artisan vendors came out with perfectly packaged ‘sampler’ gift packs! This 2016 Christmas gift trend is perfect for the indecisive shopper out there. It is so hard to know what your bestie’s favourite flavour is, even if you know that they will love the brand. A multi-flavour gift pack is the best way to support local or to get to know the tasty lineup of these companies! Here are our top seven ‘Gift Packs’ at Edible Canada this holiday season, with gorgeous packaging and innovative flavours to boot. You can buy all these products in-store or online!
7. Okanagan Vinegar Brewery boxed olive oil and balsamic set
This boxed set is actually available year-round, and is a favourite in our little Granville Island Shop. We even featured it in our 2015 gift guide! It is a repeat for good reason- you can’t beat the quality of Okanagan Vinegar Brewery’s creations, and the packaging is a classic design. The makers of the famous Solera 2000 Pinot Noir Balsamico know what they are doing when it comes to cold pressed extra virgin olive oil + 6 year old balsamic vinegar.
6. Saint Q Maple Syrup box set
Saint Q pays homage to the maple master craftsmen of Saint Quentin, New Brunswick, widely considered the Maple Capital of Atlantic Canada. The pristine climate and unique terroir of the Appalachian highlands of New Brunswick create truly distinct maple ‘flavours’. Saint Q maple trees produce three distinct maple syrups with three distinct flavour personalities of luscious butter, toasted caramel and woodsy vanilla. Try all three with this elegantly wood and glass boxed set, perfect for the Canadiana buff who has everything. The boxed set is only available in-store, but you can buy them individually online!
5. Artisan Edibles Preserve Trio
Inspired by a passion for fine foods, Artisan Edibles has been making the most of lovingly grown seasonal ingredients since 2005. Located in Parksville, British Columbia, they pride themselves on quality in their creations. These preserves pair well with wine and cheese (what doesn’t!) and come in three flavours- Raspberry Cinnamon, Pomegranate Hot Pepper and Blueberry Lavender.
4. Cahoots Simple Syrup Sweet Trio Boxed Set
The foodie in your life has long since moved past simple rum and eggnog as the holiday cocktail staple. Help them be innovative with the best quality simple syrups, made here in Vancouver, BC. You can mix them in drinks, pour them over desserts, or use them in salad dressings or marinades. However they’re used, Cahoots syrups make it easy for people to be adventurous in the bar or kitchen. The set includes 200mL bottles of our Chai, Hibiscus and Classic flavours, as well as a curated holiday cocktail guide with eight festive Cahoots recipes.
3. Provisions Food Company Preserve 3-pack
This whimsical collection of preserves from Ontario come wrapped in rustic burnished wood and wire. We love the aesthetic, and think that these gift packs would be the perfect addition to a charcuterie plate. We can’t think of a better gift to bring along to a holiday open house- we guarantee that the host will crack it open right away! Try the sour cherry paste with a soft goat’s cheese. You won’t regret it.
2. Frost Bites Syrup Berry Cordials
Frost Bites Syrup co., based in Squamish, BC, creates one of our most coveted products. You can always find them highlighted in a cocktail or two on our menu, or in a refreshing cordial in the summer. A staff favourite, almost every one of us has at least one bottle in our homes. For Christmas, they have treated us to gift packs of four cordials with different themes! Our favourite is the Berry Pack, because we think Blackberry ginger is one of their classic flavours, but the citrus pack is pretty great also! Pair with sparkling water for a gorgeous homemade soda, or get creative with your mixology.
1. East Van Jam Vancouver Streets Box Set
Is there anything more quintessentially Vancouver than East Van Jam? The whimsical names and gift packs named after streets in East Vancouver vault this trio to the top of our list. Packaging aside, the ‘Raspberry Dandy’ might be one of the best jams that we have ever tasted. Don’t tell anyone else we said that!
